Wakefield Trinity Wildcats have confirmed the signing of forward David Solomona on a three-year contract and young stand off Liam Campbell on a two-year deal. Parramatta Eels second rower Solomona, 25, will join the Wildcats next January, after the club beat off interest from two other Super League clubs to secure his signature.
The six-Test Kiwi international has appeared on the losing side in Grand Finals for former club Sydney Roosters and the Eels in 2000 and 2001, and made 57 appearances for Parramatta.
"The club are working hard at attracting quality players to the side and the long term signing of Solomona is testament to where the club are looking to be over the next two to three seasons," said coach Shane McNally, in a statement on the club's official website.
"David is a strong running forward and is rated as one of the best creative forwards in the game."
A Samoan World Cup star, he has a good offload game and will be an integral part of Wakefield's side over the coming seasons.
"I am looking forward to coming to the UK to play," he said. "This is a real challenge for myself and my family.
"We have spoken to friends already playing in England and to some of the Wakefield lads and are really looking forward to coming over.
"Family plays a big part in my life and one thing that has come over in these talks is the great environment at Wakefield between the players and their supporters.
"I am looking forward to being part of that group and playing rugby for the Wildcats."
