De Vere and Carlaw return for
Knights clash

Michael De Vere and Dane Carlaw have come straight back into the Brisbane starting side for this weekend?s clash with the Newcastle Knights at Energy Australia Stadium.

The pair missed last week?s impressive win over the St George-Illawarra Dragons at Win Stadium, with De Vere suffering from a torn quadriceps and Carlaw having injured his shoulder in a Players? Player performance for Queensland in the Origin decider.

De Vere comes in for injured veteran Stu Kelly, who will miss at least one match with a neck injury after he ?speared? himself attempting to field a bomb in the match last Friday evening.

Carlaw?s return pushes Corey Parker back onto a six-man bench which includes impressive youngsters David Stagg and Tom Learoyd, as well as powerhouse prop Carl Webb.

Webb still has not signed with any other NRL club, despite Brisbane giving the former Origin star the chance to look elsewhere.

The 23-year-old has been in dynamic touch since returning to the Broncos top 17 two weeks ago, prompting some to suggest the club should consider giving the Dalby product another chance.
