Deputy Mayor Endorses Views Of
Fellow Liberals

Michael Kitmiridis, Kogarah's Deputy Mayor and likely replacement for Jim Taylor, has endorsed the views expressed by his fellow Liberal candidates on the future improvements to Oki Jubilee Stadium. Kitmiridis, who is standing for re-election in Middle Ward, played an important role in the return of the Dragons to the Kogarah Municipality.

A Chartered Architect and Chairman of Kogarah's Environmental Management Working Party, Kitmiridis will throw his full support behind further enhancements to the St.George district's premier sporting facility.

"I grew up in Kogarah and as a child I was in awe of the achievements of the St.George Dragons and what they accomplished for the Kogarah Municipality and the entire St.George region," Kitmiridis said.

"It's important to continue to improve the facilities at Kogarah and I'll support the installation of low-impact, community friendly lighting that eliminates such issues as glare and light spill," he added.

"Like my fellow Liberal candidates, I would like to develop the facility in consultation with the community and would like to involve the St.George-Illawarra Dragons, all Councillors, the community and supporter groups such as R2K."

Kitmiridis stated that the return of the Dragons to the Kogarah Municipality was a team effort and that all parties involved should be congratulated.

"Kogarah Council has 12 Councillors and without the support of these individuals the return would have been placed in jeopardy. The Club and Dragons' supporters were just as instrumental with the return to Kogarah campaign."

He also supports Oki Jubilee Stadium being a multi-use facility and believes that permanent lighting will help to retain and attract tenants. Southern Districts, Sydney Olympic and the Fraser Park Dragons have all utilised Kogarah over the last 12 months.

Michael Kitmiridis stands for re-election in Middle Ward on March 27.
