Fulltime score: Round 24 St George Illawarra Dragons 25 Parramatta Eels 22

Match summary: Out and out excitement for all concerned at Oki Jubilee Stadium this afternoon in front of 17,523 screaming fans as the Dragons fought out a breathtaking victory by 25-22 over the Eels. The game, part of the Dragons 85th anniversary celebrations, lived up to all the hype pre-game that saw the match sold out very early in the piece. The crowd, the weather, and the match are played their part in the match that almost all had anticipated to be a thriller.

Four tries a-piece in the match, with the difference the boot of Ennis, and a field goal right on the hooter at halftime, for Barrett.

Both sides started tentatively, with no scoring in the game until midway through the first half, the Dragons quickly 18-0 up within 12 minutes. A late try to the Eels brought them back in the match just before the break.

The halftime score of 19-6 to the Dragons did not changed until quarter of an hour into the second half when the Eels scored two quick tries to have them within 3 points of the home side.

The relief was shortlived for Parramatta as the Dragons piled on the pressure and the points to once more extend their lead. The Eels looked a little ruffled until Riddell, literally just stepping onto the field from the interchange, did that 'something special' with a one handed offload to have the Eels back within 3 points of the leaders.

Try as they might right until the final whistle, Parramatta couldn't find their way over the tryline, and the Dragons held on the an exciting victory.

Now with 6 wins in a row, the Dragons rest up next week before the final round.

The victory today at Kogarah sees the Dragons, the Eels and the Tigers all on 32 points after Round 24, just 2 points behind the Broncos with 2 rounds to play.
