Dragons roll through Eels

Josh Dugan has starred with two tries in the Dragons' 32-12 thrashing over the Parramatta Eels at WIN Stadium, with 17,458 in attendance.

The Dragons posted first points quickly as Origin-bound forward Trent Merrin muscled his way through the Eels defence. Jamie Soward made it 6-0 after 3 minutes with his conversion.

A second Origin-rep Dragon charged his way over 17 minutes later, as Ben Creagh powered over off a short pass from Nathan Fien. The Dragons led 12-0 after 20 minutes. Daniel Vidot embarrassed the Eels defence twice in seven minutes with two tries scored in exactly the same manner with two beautiful cut out passes from Jamie Soward. At the half time break, the Dragons were well on top of the struggling Eels 20-0.

Josh Dugan started the second half with his first try for the Dragons since signing two weeks ago. The re-born star came up with a one-on-one strip on Luke Kelly to post his try off the kick of Soward. The Dragons extended their lead to 26-0 after 46 minutes.

Among the poor performances from the Parramatta side came a shining light in Peni Terepo, who posted his own double of tries in the second half, running hard through the Dragons defence to score in the 62nd and 77th minutes.

Dugan claimed his final try thanks to Nathan Fien who provided a pin-point kick to the corner late in the game before Terepo scored the Eels' final consolation. The Dragons in the end claimed victory 32-12 over Parramatta.

It was a promising night for "debutant" Dugan, the fullback coming up with a quality performance in his first game for the Red V, after being sidelined for 9 weeks for off field incidents at Canberra.

Next week the Dragons continue their mortgage on the 5:30pm Saturday timeslot when they host Penrith at their other home ground - WIN Jubilee Oval at Kogarah. Parramatta will host the Gold Coast on Sunday afternoon in Mudgee.
