Dragons to Appeal Second Tier
Salary Cap Breach

The St George Illawarra Dragons will appeal the NRL?s decision to fine the Club $32, 286 for a Second Tier breach of the Salary Cap.

The breach and fine does not relate to the $3.25 million Salary Cap for the Top 25 Squad, instead to the use of a Premier League Player during Round 18 last year due to significant injury problems at the Club around that time.

?We have always been a supporter of the Salary Cap, however we haven?t always agreed with its methodologies, particularly in relation to the Second Tier,? said Dragons Chief Executive Peter Doust. ?We have never breached the Salary Cap previously at any level and have debated the technicalities of the Second Tier along with other Clubs for some time now.

?We will appeal this decision given the situation, in line with the NRL?s policy?.
