Eels added to Test squad

Parramatta trio Nathan Hindmarsh, Eric Grothe and Jarryd Hayne have been added to the Australian rugby league train-on squad.

The Eels trio are the only additions to the squad with Canberra, the other side eliminated after the first week of the finals, overlooked for inclusions ahead of the Tri Nations series. Hayne's call up continued a rapid rise for the 18-year-old winger who last week was named the NRL rookie of the year.

The Australian train-on squad now contains 20 players - from teams eliminated from the finals - and will meet for its first session on Wednesday. The Prime Minister's XIII team to play Papua New Guinea next month will be selected primarily from the train-on squad.
