Eels blow away Sharks in Hayne Day afternoon

Parramatta have recorded a rare win down in the Shire, defeating the Sharks 32-12 in an engaging contest, in front of 12,798 fans at Remondis Stadium.

The Hayne Plane resumed it's flight from where it left off on Queensland's South East. The fullback took a shovel pass from Corey Norman and left the defense in his wake. He stood up Michael Gordon, easing his way to the try-line.

Hayne wasn't done there, with his ten minute highlight reel. This time was as the supplier, chiming into the backline to create the link man, for Ryan Morgan and Semi Radradra, sending the flying winger over in the corner. The Eels were battling the clock early on, leading 10-nil with potential for explosion.

Cronulla are renowned as a team, who do love a deficit. The home side worked their way back into the contest, as Valentine Holmes, Nu Brown and Andrew Fifita, the new guard wrecked havoc on the Eels. It was Holmes, who could have had several tries in the first half, found space and went on a mazy run down the left. From the ensuing play the ball, it was the other two of the new guard combining for Brown's first NRL try.

The Eels once again started like a house on fire, in the second half. Chris Sandow the architect in reintroducing the Eels lead. He put a lovely drifting pass on, for Peni Terepo, who steamed through the gap and past a statue named Michael Gordon. After it was a celebration time, for debutant Bureta Faraimo, who was the last link in the passing chain, to dive over.

Once again, a deficit doesn't seem to faze the Sharks. They continued to dig in through the young guard but it was a mixture of young and old for their second four-pointer in the 66th minute. Valentine Holmes was away down the sideline, stepping inside unselfishly finding Jeff Robson, cutting the lead down to eight.

Parramatta though, wouldn't make the same mistake, as others had made when leading by ten plus against the Sharks. They kept the foot on the throat, granted with a slick of luck. Jarryd Hayne added a second try to his afternoon of delight, scooping up a dropped pass by Andrew Fifita and streaking the rest of the field despite the attentions of Jacob Gagan.

They celebrated the victory down in the Shire, the first since Round 21 2009, I wonder what happened that year? Bureta Faraimo crossed from an inventive tap restart from William Hopoate, capping a solid debut for the American international and a win for the Eels that puts them back into the top eight.
