St Helens came from behind to edge past Warrington Wolves and gain their first win of the 2008 season.

After five minutes of the game Man of Steel James Roby scored the opening try for the hosts. Warrington hit with a Chris Hicks score but they were dealt a major blow when Irish international full-back Chris Bridge was carried off with a ruptured Achilles tendon, which could see him miss the rest of the season, and also they lost Matt King with a calf injury. Martin Gleeson and Lee Briers then scored further tries as the visitors lead 14-8 at the break.

After the restart St Helens upped the tempo and blew the Wolves way with three quick-fire tries in a seven minute spell from Paul Clough and a double for Ade Gardiner. Paul Johnson gave Warrington some hope with a try on 68 minutes but with Steve Tyrer and Francis Meli scoring late on the game was sealed for Saints.

Kevin Penny did manage a consolation for the visitors but Briers missed his fourth attempt at goal which proved costly in the final outcome of the game.

Leeds Rhinos brushed aside Wakefield Wildcats with a devastating first half performance at Belle Vue.

The Champions produced an unstoppable first half display by running in 7 unanswered tries. Keith Senior scored the first, Matt Diskin, Ali Lauitiiti, Kevin Sinfield, Danny McGuire and a brace for Scott Donald all got on the score-sheet as the Rhinos ran tries in from all parts of the field to lead 38-0.

Wakefield stemmed the tie in the second half and scored two consolation tries from Luke George and Ryan Atkins. However Leeds had the final say with a late Diskin try their only score of the second half.

Wigan Warriors kept up their 100% start to the season with a hard-fought win over Castleford Tigers at the JJB Stadium.

In a tight first half a below par Wigan took a narrow 8-6 lead at the break thanks to a late try from Pat Richards who also kicked two goals. Peter Lupton had given the Tigers the early lead.

After the restart two quick tries from Liam Colbon and Thomas Leuluai seemed to have given the Warriors a commanding lead. But a try from Tom Haberecht gave Castleford some hope before Leuluai second try proved to be too much for the visitors who scored the final try of the game through Prop Mark Leafa.

Huddersfield Giants 12 Tries: Robinson, Whaturia Goals: Thorman 2

Bradford Bulls gained their first win of the season by defeating Huddersfield Giants at the Grattan Stadium Odsal.

The Bulls took control of the first half and opened up a 24-6 lead the break. Substitute Simon Finnigan scored two tries with Terry Newton and James Evans adding others to put the hosts well on top. Luke Robinson scored for the Giants.

Paul Whaturia try early in the second half gave the visitors some hope and Michael Platt prevented a further score with a last gap tackle on Shane Elford. Paul Sykes clinched the game 90 meter solo try and a close range effort from Glen Morrison sealed the win for the Bulls.

Hull KR 24 Tries: Galea, Fox 2, Gene Goals: J. Webster 4

Hull KR grabbed a late win over Catalans Dragon in the south of France

The Dragons scored the first try of the game from hooker Aaron Gorrell. Ben Galea hit back for the visitors but a try from John Wilson gave the hosts a 14-6 lead at the break.
