England captain extends Quins contract

Harlequins Rugby League captain, Rob Purdham has today agreed to a two-year contract extension, keeping him with the capital club until at least the end of the 2009 season. This comes as great news for Quins RL ahead of their first home game of the season at the Twickenham Stoop this Saturday.

In autumn Purdham led England to victory in the Federation Shield and was named player of the series.

He joined the London club in 2002 from Whitehaven Warriors and last week played his 101st game for the club. In 2006 Rob set a new club record of points scored in match (34) and goals in a match (13) in last year
