Feldt signs new contract with Cowboys

FELDT SIGNS NEW CONTRACT WITH TOYOTA COWBOYS

Junior Kangaroos representative Kyle Feldt will continue his growth as a rugby league player with the North Queensland Toyota Cowboys after extending his contract with the club until the end of the 2014 season.

The extension means that Feldt, who is one of the best backline talents in the Toyota Cup competition, will step up to the Cowboys' full-time NRL squad from 2013.

The 19-year-old, who attended Ignatius Park College in Townsville, joined the Cowboys from the nearby Norths Devils juniors and has gone on to become the all-time leading points scorer in the NYC under-20s despite only playing just two seasons.

He remains eligible for the Toyota Cup in 2012.

In the Cowboys' 2011 grand final season, he finished with 230 points from 14 tries and 87 goals and had a North Queensland record 26 points, including four tries, in the victory against Newcastle.

Feldt was named in the Toyota Cup Team of the Year for 2011 and then gained his first call-up to the Junior Kangaroos for their match against the Junior Kiwis in Newcastle.

Cowboys General Manager - Football Peter Parr said signing outstanding North Queensland talent such as Feldt was a priority for the Cowboys.
