First round of 2007 season announced

The NRL has today announced the first round of the 2007 Premiership with many exciting matches planned for the opening of the season.

Reigning premiers Brisbane will open their title defence against arch rivals North Queensland at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night in the live telecast. The newly arranged delayed Friday night game sees Melbourne host Wests Tigers in the southern capital.

Super Saturday sees the game travel to New Zealand, then the Northern beaches before heading south to the Sutherland Shire.

On Sunday Newcastle host Canterbury in what?s sure to be a blockbuster game, while the Gold Coast play their first game against the Dragons at Suncorp Stadium.

Monday night rounds out the first week with two Sydney clubs at Aussie Stadium.
