Gamble Leads Sharks In New
Direction

A new sound has graced Saleyards Park and that is the sound of 1995 Junior Kiwi Rex Gamble barking instructions at his troops.

2003 Comets Player Of The Year Rex Gamble has taken over the reigns of the Fitzroy-Gracemere Sharks A-grade side for the 2005 CQ Extended League season.

After five years at the Queensland Cup level with the Central Queensland Comets, Gamble has decided to try his hand at coaching but that doesn't mean he won't strap on the boots as the club has appointed Gamble Captain-Coach.

"I'm just looking to the basics to start with, just looking for guys who want to give it their all for the club and their team mates," Gamble explained.

A representative of the Fitzroy-Gracemere Sharks said, "Gamble will add more experience to a young but talented Sharks forward pack with the likes of Bryce Wilkes and Josh Binney benefiting from his vast knowledge of front row play."

"Along with Ryan Wilson, Danny Moore, Jim Dockery and Jeff Cranston, the Fitzroy Gracemere side will have one of the strongest forward packs in the CQ Extended League."

Things look on the up for the Sharks who earlier in the week announced the signing of former Woorabinda Warrior 5/8 Jeffery Rynne who spent 2004 on the sidelines through injury. The club has also had impressive turn outs at training.

The Sharks first hit out for 2005 will be on Saturday, February 26 at Browne Park, Rockhampton when they take on the QR Comets Development Squad at 6 pm as a curtain raiser to the Comets verse Canberra Raiders clash.

The Sharks will take a squad of 25 into the clash giving Gamble the opportunity to cast his eye over all the players gunning for top grade spots.

Fitzroy-Gracemere Sharks would like to thank the following for their support in 2005 - DC Motors, The Cambridge Hotel, Red Lion Hotel, Arrow Property Maintenance, John Harbin, True Value Hardware and Kirsten Livermore MP.
