Gasnier racing against time

NSW centre Mark Gasnier is quietly confident he will be right for Wednesday's State of Origin clash against Queensland despite a groin injury.

The Dragons star has been training lightly but knows he will have to run at full pace to play at Telstra Stadium.

"It feels good but, in saying that, I'm not sprinting at the moment," Gasnier told League Correspondent.

"Obviously on Tuesday I'll have to train at 100 per cent. You don't go into a State of Origin game not 100 per cent [fit], so I've got to prove that I am 100 per cent before then."

Should Gasnier be ruled out, Matt King will shift from wing to centre with Luke Lewis coming into the side.

NSW coach Ricky Stuart admits Gasnier is racing against the clock.

"He's got some rehab going and he is improving every day. It's a case of whether he improves enough in time to play."

"We're happy with the way he's measuring up at this stage and we're planning for both possibilities - that he does play and that he doesn't play. It's going to be touch and go."
