Gasnier ruled out as Dragons
injuries continue

St George Illawarra centre Mark Gasnier has been ruled out of this weekend's Dragons clash against the Newcastle Knights at Kogarah.

At best, Gasnier was a slim chance of taking the field and this latest news confirms reports which have been circulating since last weekend.

It's unlikely that Gasnier will play again this season.

Dragons coach Nathan Brown said Gasnier could not complete yesterday's training session because of a recurring quadriceps problem.

“It's been a disappointing season for Mark with injuries,” Brown said. “First his calf muscle, then his knee, now this. It is unlikely he will play again this season.”

The Dragons have had a woeful season with injuries with Trent Barrett, Jason Ryles, Amos Roberts, Aaron Gorrell, Michael Howell and Ian Donnelly all watching from the sidelines.

No replacement has been named as yet for Gasnier or for forward Henry Perenara who also pulled out yesterday.

Craig Stapleton and Chris Nero are tipped to come into the side but Brown will wait until after training tomorrow morning to finalise his line-up. The Dragons have a rest day today.
