Giants sign Snitch

Huddersfield Giants have beaten off competition from three top six Super League clubs and an NRL club to sign highly rated Wakefield back row forward Steve Snitch.

Snitch, age 22 who is 1.83m and weighs 95kg, has put in some impressive performances this season and is regarded as a player who has the potential to make the step up to International football in the next couple of years.

Giants Head Coach Jon Sharp said:

"Steve is one of the best young British back row forwards in the game. He will be a massive addition to our squad for Super League XI. I am really looking forward to working with Steve he is a player who, I believe, has got the ability to develop into one of the best back row forwards in Super League."

Giants General Manager Richard Thewlis commented:

?We were made aware following the September deadline that Steve may be available and moved very quickly to secure his services. The opportunity to sign high quality young British players rarely arises and we were delighted that Steve chose us ahead of some of the perceived bigger clubs in the game over here and abroad. I am sure that our supporters will view his capture as a highly significant move in our bid to establish a consistent top six squad at the Galpharm next year and for the foreseeable future.?

Giants latest signing Steve Snitch commented:

"I'm delighted to have made this move. I've had five great years at Wakefield, but felt the time was right for a change and I needed a fresh challenge. I was aware there was interest from a number of clubs, but Huddersfield really appealed to me. They have a great set-up, they are well coached and have some quality players in the side. It's obvious the Giants are a club that are continuing to move forward, and I'm delighted to have joined at such an exciting time."
