Giants star Faiumu signs new deal

Huddersfield Giants 2010 Players Player of the Year David Faiumu has put pen to paper on a contract extension until the end of 2013 Super League Season. The 27 year old Kiwi international utility forward had no hesitation in accepting the clubs offer:

"I am very happy that I've extended my stay with the Giants," he told www.giantsrl.com, "we are very settled here and like living in Huddersfield and I think that we have genuine chances of winning silverware now and in the future. The team is strong and we now have lots of really good young kids pushing through which gives us good depth to the squad. I think that Nathan and the coaches have brought some good footy out of me and I can still get better working here and bring some experience to the younger lads."

Giants Head Coach Nathan Brown said: "Fuey is very well respected amongst everyone at the club and is a very important part of our team on and off the field. For the Giants to keep improving it was important that Fuey was retained by the Club going forward. He has played a big part on the way this Club has developed in the past two years."

Giants Managing Director Richard Thewlis believes that this news will be greeted well by the supporters: "Fuey is a real fans favourite" he said, "there is a genuine buzz around the crowd when he has the ball as I guess no one really knows which way he will go and where he will offload to and that excites people. Fuey told me he wanted to stay longer and am sure could have had his pick of many clubs but it's the Giants where his heart is and the deal was relatively simple to conclude and gives us further stability with a proven international performer in the claret and gold for the foreseeable future."
