James Wynne put France ahead after England mad a slow start to the game. The visitors hit back and with tries from Leon Pryce, Martin Gleeson and Maurie Fa'asavalu as they led 16-8 at the break. England upped the tempo in the second half and the extra class in their side showed. Warrington Wolves centre Gleeson completed his hat-trick. Debutant Hull KR winger Peter fox along with old staged Keith Senior all got on the score-sheet. Saints fullback Paul Wellens scored the tenth and final try. Kevin Sinfield kicked five goals and Rob Burrow kicked three as the English ran out comprehensive winners.
