The Wigan club can today announce the signing of hooker Wayne Godwin from Castleford Tigers on a two year contract.
The 22 year old has progressed through the ranks at the Jungle and made 23 starting appearances for the club in Super League IX.
Commenting on the arrival of Godwin, Coach Denis Betts said,
"We have a great hooker in Terry Newton and a promising player in Mark Smith. Wayne will be a great addition to the squad and I think he could even reach international standard. Super League is now the most keenly fought it has ever been and you need almost thirty players to make your squad not only competitive but to be able to cover injuries. We have recognised Wayne's qualities for some time, he is a great tackler, has a turn of pace and has wonderful enthusiasm. We are delighted to have signed Wayne on a two year contract."
