Greece to take on Victoria as Storm
curtain raiser

Former Australian Test player Jim Serdaris will represent Greece when they take on Victoria as the curtain raiser to Melbourne Storm?s clash with the ladder leading Bulldogs at Olympic Park this Sunday.

Serdaris - who played almost 200 first grade matches for South Sydney, Canterbury, Western Suburbs and Manly - has returned to Australia in recent weeks after playing for the Pia Donkeys in France.

The Greek Rugby League will take on a representative team from the Victorian Rugby League prior to the Storm?s match against the Bulldogs and with the recent success of the Greek national soccer team and the Olympic Games in Athens, a strong turnout is assured.

Greece will be captain-coached by another former NRL player in Steve Georgallis and will be represented by a strong squad including ex-North Queensland hooker George Gatis.

Greece has also confirmed that they will meet Italy at Marconi Stadium in Sydney?s western suburbs on Saturday, October 2. The Greeks are focusing on October 2005 when they take on Russia in Athens. A domestic competition, based in Athens, is also planned for the same time.
