The Newcastle Knights have achieved one of their most courageous wins after thumping the Cronulla Sharks 24-12 with only 14 men.
Two key players in Jarrod Mullen (cracked rib) and Steve Simpson (torn hamstring) were lost early in the game, but the Knights were not deterred, pushing ahead with playmaker Scott Dureau standing up along with forwards like Cory Paterson.
Despite Newcastle having most of their possession inside their own territory, around half of their sets incomplete, and a bad error rate, they came out at the end of the 80mins looking a lot better side then their opponents who went backwards from their performance last week.
Cronulla made too many unforced errors and blew their chances regularly against an injury ravaged Knights - whilst the normally solid Sharks defence looked patchy quite often.
The Sharks came up with the first points of the game in the 22nd minute through a try to Trent Barrett. The veteran five-eighth kicked high and regathered, diving over in what looked like would be Cronulla
