Hayne in doubt as Eels go down 38-24

Jarryd Hayne has sustained a hamstring injury in the Eels 38-24 loss to the Sydney Roosters which could see him ruled out of State of Origin Game II.

Despite the poor performances of the Eels, they posted a crowd of 12,135 at Parramatta Stadium for the Friday Night fixture.

Daniel Tupou was the stand out for the Roosters who were in second gear for most of the contest. He crossed the whitewash twice, his first eight minutes into the match. James Maloney provided the cross-field kick for Tupou to reach out in the corner. Roosters with an early 6-0 lead.

The Eels made use of the consecutive penalties to post consecutive tries inside four minutes. Ken Sio and Jake Mullaney added their names to the scorers sheet with solid running through the Roosters defenece. 20 minutes gone at Parramatta Stadium, Eels with a shock lead of 12-6.

It did not take long for the Roosters to hit back as they scored three tries leading into half time. The first through as Martin Kennedy scored an easy four-pointer as he strolled through the Eels defenders. The game locked up with Maloney's conversion at 12-all.

Another simple misread from the Eels defence saw Roger Tuivasa-Sheck dart away to the corner on the right side. The final minutes of the first half came through Daniel Tupou has he posted his second try thanks to a short pass assist from Michael Jennings.

The Roosters held a 24-12 lead over the Eels at half time.

A controversial call came shortly after half time as Jarryd Hayne was awarded a four-pointer by the video referee. The controversy came as replays showed Chris Sandow threw a blatant forward pass to Matt Ryan who provided the offload for Hayne. The Eels closed the points differential to six points, 24-18. 
 
The Roosters opted for an extension in the lead as James Maloney slot a penalty goal after Jarryd Hayne was ruled to have stripped the ball out of the hands of Sonny Bill Williams. Roosters ahead, 26-18. 
 
Young gun, Peni Terepo gave the Parramatta side hope for victory with a simply charge through the Roosters defence to barge over. Chris Sandow with the conversion attempt slot the extras and made it to two points the difference with 7 minutes to play. 
 
Terepo's try was all for nothing as the Roosters secured victory with two late tries inside three minutes. Anthony Minichello bolted down field as he picked up a failed chip and chase from Chris Sandow to score. In the same play, Jarryd Hayne went down with a right hamstring injury which saw him eventually be assisted off the field. 
 
There is concern for the Eels and NSW Blues outside back who will have scans on his hamstring to verify the injury.
