Hunt out for 2 months

The agony for the Ergon Energy Broncos continued today with Test fullback Karmichael Hunt ruled out for at least two months with a fractured bone in his left foot.

The teenage sensation will have surgery on Monday after doing the damage when making a dart out of dummy-half in the 76th minute of the Broncos heart-breaking last minute 18-16 loss to St.George-Illawarra at Suncorp Stadium last night.

Ben Hannant (knee), Greg Eastwood (hamstring), Casey McGuire and Ian Lacey (both hip) also face stints on the sideline with club medical staff fearing a long lay off for Hannant.

The energetic prop had arthroscopic surgery this morning to detect serious cartilage damage to his knee after painfully leaving the field in the 27th minute last night.

The 21-year-old will be assessed on Monday along with talented utility Eastwood who sustained a possible right hamstring tear in the second half.

Eastwood, 19, will be sweating on the diagnosis considering he has been selected to make his Test debut for New Zealand against Britain at St Helens in England on Wednesday week.

Back-up hookers Lacey and McGuire suffered the least serious injuries but are in doubt for this weekend?s match against Manly at Brookvale Oval. Shaun Berrigan is the club?s other part-time rake.

Hunt?s foot injury is identical to that suffered by Broncos Test captain Darren Lockyer in November on last year?s Tri-Nations tour with the five-eighth taking almost three months to resume running drills. It caused him to begin the season underdone. Hunt?s fullback position is likely to be taken by 2005 Australian schoolboys? no.1 Darius Boyd who would switch from the wing position he has performed well in all season.

Rookie back Fraser Anderson, 21, played wing last night in the absence of Kiwi Test star Tame Tupou who is expected to return from a round 13 knee injury against the Sea Eagles.
