Inglis boots Storm to golden point victory

The Melbourne Storm have posted first points in the 2009 Telstra Premiership with a golden point victory over the St George Illawarra Dragons in front of 15,000 fans at Olympic Park in Melbourne.

In a typically scrappy opening round match it was the Dragons who drew first blood thanks to an early penalty goal, but the honour of the first try of the season fell to Storm star Greg Inglis after he barrelled over the top of Jamie Soward, doing a great impersonation of a prop forward on the way. The Dragons were fortunate to hit straight back through their captain Ben Hornby, who capitalised on an error to open up an 8-4 lead that stayed in place right through to halftime.
