Injury update

Cronulla coaching staff will this morning examine four different camera angles of the hit by Sharks prop Ben Ross on Bulldog opponent Kane Cleal.

The tackle broke Cleal's jaw and Ross was yesterday hit with a grade five reckless tackle charge by the NRL match review committee.

An early guilty plea would result in a three-match ban for Ross, while he would be risking a five match suspension if he opted to fight the charge tomorrow night. The Sharks have until noon today to make a decision.

Cleal says he bears no ill will towards ROSS despite now being forced to sit out the season and miss thousands of dollars in bonus payments.

Out west, and Parramatta fullback Luke Burt will find out later today if his season is over after suffering a dislocated kneecap in last night's 34-10 loss to Newcastle.

The NRL's leading pointscorer was taken from the field on a medicab shortly after halftime when Newcastle skipper Danny Buderus landed awkwardly on his knee. The injury capped a horror night for the Eels who were never in the contest as the Knights ran in six tries to two.

Newcastle coach Brian Smith denied the win was any sweeter given he had been shown the door by the Eels last season after ten years with the club. The win lifted the Knights to ninth while the Eels remain in fourth spot.

Up north now, and Gold Coast co-captain Scott Prince says his injured collarbone is still sore but he's hopeful of playing against the Raiders in Sunday's NRL clash at Canberra Stadium.

Prince heads a long list of injury concerns for the Titans, who are battling to stay in the top following two straight losses. The star halfback is desperate to play in Canberra to ease the club's injury crisis but says a decision isn't likely to be made until Saturday.

Meanwhile in a savage blow to Chris Walker's hopes of earning a call-up to the Titans, the former Queensland State of Origin winger has been diagnosed with a grade two medial ligament strain to his knee.

Walker suffered the injury playing for Gold Coast feeder club Ipswich in the Queensland Cup yesterday.
