Jets do it the hard way against the
Knights

The Sydney Airport Jets nearly paid the ultimate price for their first half complacency in last Saturday?s high scoring NSW Premier League match against the Newcastle Knights at Henson Park.

The Jets trailed 22-4 after only twenty minutes, but rallied to trail by 26-18 early in the second half. Newtown eventually established a 34-26 lead, then showed considerable fortitude in hanging on to win in what was a tense final twenty minutes of play. The great roll-up of Jets fans gave their local heroes a sustained ovation as they left the field 34-30 winners. On the down side, giant Jets prop Monah Elahmad was placed on report and has since received a three week suspension for striking an opponent.

Whole-hearted Sydney Airport Jets? second rower Billy Najarrin was again outstanding, and remains one of the form players of the 2003 Premier League. He received strong support in this match from Aaron Trinder, Troy Barnes, David Faa?Logo, Nathan Marles and big Monah Elahmad.

Newtown went down 40-30 in the Jim Beam Cup local derby with premiership favourites Souths Juniors, but thrilled the crowd with a plucky second half fightback.

The Sydney Airport Jets are back at Henson Park this Saturday (10th May), taking on the unbeaten Parramatta Eels in the Premier League at 3.00 pm, and the Sydney Bulls in the Jim Beam Cup curtain raiser at 1.30 pm.
