Ailing NSW captain Andrew Johns was planning to fly to Brisbane today, raising hopes he would be fit to play in Wednesday night's third State of Origin rugby league match.
Suffering a viral infection, Johns stayed back in Sydney yesterday when his teammates flew north for the Suncorp Stadium clash with Queensland. However, NSW officials said Johns was expected to join them today. He will be given until the last moment to be passed fit to play in the match as NSW chases a series clean sweep.
If unable to play, he'll be replaced by Bulldogs halfback Brent Sherwin.
