Johnson ruled out of Ashes Series

Wigan Warriors Centre/ Second Rower Paul Johnson has today been forced to withdraw from the Great Britain Squad ahead of the forthcoming Test Series against Australia. Paul suffered a freak accident over the weekend where he slashed his index finger on broken glass and he will require a hand operation this week.

Warriors Press Officer Graham Emmerson said,

"It is a devastating blow for Paul who was looking forward to another crack at the Australians. It was a freak accident but it means Paul will have to face surgery on his hand and will be out of action for six weeks. He will therefore be unable to join the GB squad, everyone at the club is disappointed for him and we all wish him a speedy recovery."

The injury is to the flexor digitorum profundus, his index finger on his right hand, the tendon is damaged and will require surgery.
