Judiciary Hinder Broncos Finals
Hopes

Brisbane will have to start its NRL finals campaign without test prop Petero Civoniceva after he was suspended for two matches on Tuesday.

The Broncos had been expected to contest Civoniceva's grade two careless high tackle charge but entered an early guilty plea instead.

He could be joined on the sidelines by fellow prop Andrew Gee who also pleaded guilty to a careless high tackle from last Friday's loss to St George-Illawarra but will dispute the grading.

Gee was charged with a grade two offence which would rule him out for three weeks - until the grand final if his team got that far.

Civoniceva will be back for the preliminary final if the eight-placed Broncos can overcome minor premier Penrith in Penrith on Sunday and then win a semifinal next week.

The other five players charged by the judiciary on Monday entered guilty pleas.

Manly's Albert Torrens and North Queensland's Matt Bowen were suspended for three weeks apiece on grade four careless high tackle and grade two dangerous throw charges respectively.

Both players will miss the start of next season.

St George Illawarra forward Robbie Simpson was suspended for two weeks on a grade two careless high tackle while Parramatta back rower Nathan Hindmarsh was outed for one match on a grade one dangerous throw.

St George Illawarra prop Chris Leikvoll will not accrue enough penalty points to miss any matches after pleading guilty to a grade one striking charge.
