Parramatta halfback Jeremy Smith has been suspended for four NRL matches after entering an early guilty plea to a grade five contrary conduct charge. The charge resulted from an incident in the Eels' loss to St George Illawarra last Friday, where Smith allegedly pushed referee Sean Hampstead.

Sydney Roosters utility Lopini Paea, one of six players charged with dangerous throws, will be out for 10 weeks after pleading guilty to his grade five charge on Melbourne prop Ben Cross. Paea would have copped a record 13-week suspension had he unsuccessful contested the charge.

Roosters teammates Amos Roberts and Ashley Harrison have copped one-week suspensions for their dangerous throw charges, as has St George Illawarra centre Matt Cooper. Cooper avoided a lengthier suspension for his grade two charge after being granted the seven-year incident-free discount.

Melbourne's Billy Slater and South Sydney's Shannon McPherson are contesting their grade one dangerous throw charges, while New Zealand Warriors prop Ruben WIKI will challenge a grade five dropping knees charge. If unsuccessful, Slater will be suspended for two games, McPherson one and Wiki eight.
