Bulldogs winger Matt Utai has been slapped with a five-week ban after taking an early guilty plea for a reckless high tackle in Sunday's match against the Wests Tigers.
The stocky flanker was handed his marching orders for a 55th-minute hit on rookie Tigers hooker Stuart Flanagan in the Dogs' 32-10 triumph. Utai's teammate Jarrad Hickey was rubbed out for one match after also taking an early guilty plea for a careless high tackle in the 36th minute hit, also on Flanagan.
Brisbane's Casey McGuire and North Queensland veteran Paul Bowman both accepted one match suspensions for striking in respective home wins over Cronulla and Souths.
