Kemp signed as Warriors coach

Tony Kemp is on the verge of being signed by the Warriors to coach the team for the next two years.

Warriors CEO Mick Watson has confirmed Kemp and the club have agreed to terms.

The former Kiwis and Newcastle Knights stand-off was Daniel Anderson's assistant, but took over the reins of the head coaching role following Anderson's departure.

Watson says the new contract still needs to be endorsed by owner Eric Watson and the Warriors board, but there should be no problems.

He says Kemp will coach the team next year, and possibly extending the contract into 2006.

Watson says it is pointless signing Kemp for just one year - he says the coach needs to be given the chance to stamp his flavour and style of play on the team and it will take a year to develop some rhythm.
