New South Wales second rower Ben Kennedy has pleaded guilty to a high tackle charge but will contest the grading at the Australian Rugby League judiciary.
Kennedy has been charged with a grade one reckless offence following a tackle on Queensland prop Steve Price in the 25th minute of the Blues' 27-4 win over Queensland last night. It's understood his National Rugby League club Newcastle is attempting to have the charge downgraded to a grade two careless high tackle.
If he is successful, Kennedy could face a one-week suspension. However, if he loses he could be outed for four weeks.
The panel for tonight'shearing will be chaired by Judge Greg Woods and include Ron Coote representing NSW and Kevin Brasch representing Queensland. If the panel members accept Kennedy's early plea for a grade two careless high tackle he will have 168 demerit points.
