Knights knockout Bulldogs

THE Newcastle Knights have advanced to the second week of the NRL finals with a convincing 22-6 victory over the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs in front of a 23,086 crowd at ANZ Stadium.

While the Knights were ontop for much of the match, it was the Bulldogs who drew first blood through Sam Perrett who scored in the ninth minute. Trent Hodkinson added the extras.

The Bulldogs had all the posession in the next passage of play, as the Knights were forced to defend five consecutive sets on their line, but they proved they were up to the task.

A mistake by the Bulldogs gave the Knights a sniff of the line and Darius Boyd was unstoppable close to the line scoring in the 23rd minute. Tyrone Roberts failed to convert.
