Knights re-sign Korbin Sims

Newcastle Knights forward Korbin Sims has re-signed with the Club for two years, keeping him at the Knights until at least the end of season 2015.

The 21-year old joined the Knights in 2011 and played Under 20’s in his first two seasons before making his NRL debut in Round 3 this season.

“Korbin is a wonderful young talent and a player we obviously wanted to secure at the Knights,” CEO Matt Gidley said.

“It is pleasing, along with the likes of Tyrone (Roberts), Dane (Gagai) and Robbie (Rochow), we are continuing to retain our best young players long term.”

Sims, who was named at prop in the 2012 Under 20’s Team of the Year, is pleased to re-sign with the Knights.

“I am excited about staying at the Knights for at least the next two years,” Sims said.

“This Club and Wayne (Bennett) have given me my chance and I want to give back to the Club and repay them for their faith"

“With the mix of the younger players coming through and the older boys in the side, there is a good feel about what is to come at the Knights."

Sims’ two older brothers (Ashton and Tariq), who play for the North Queensland Cowboys, supported his decision to re-sign with the Knights.

“My brothers are happy for me, they support my decision and know this is the best decision for my career,” Sims added.

“Hopefully I can play some good football over the next few years and make my family proud.”
