Knights Recruit Davico, Re-sign Thaiday

The Newcastle Knights have today agreed to terms with former Canberra Raider Luke Davico and exciting ex-Super 12 player, Milton Thaiday.

Davico, who has played 176 Games with the Raiders, is recovering from a torn pectoral muscle sustained in 2004 and re-injured earlier this year in Britain. He will undergo a medical examination tomorrow in Newcastle before attending the Knights, Roosters match at EnergyAustralia Stadium tomorrow night.

The veteran prop has agreed to a two-year deal with the club.

Former Waratah Thaiday, who joined the club from the Ballina Seagulls earlier this year, has excited Knights fans in his brief time with the club, scoring 5 tries in his six NRL appearances.

In re-signing with the club for the 2006 and 2007 seasons he admitted today Newcastle and the Knights had had a positive influence on his life.

?I was very grateful to the Knights for giving me this opportunity a few months ago,? he said.

?Since then I?ve played some first grade and my family has moved to town, so I couldn?t be happier.?

?My job now is to return the faith the club has shown in me by playing my best football over the next two years.?

Also speaking today, Luke Davico said he was excited at the challenge presented to him at the Knights.

?Being part of the next two campaigns for the Knights alongside the likes of Danny Buderus and Andrew Johns is something I am very much looking forward to,? he said.

?I know results on the field this year have been a bit sparse, but I?m very confident that the club will turn things around in the short term and I?m glad I can be a part of that.?

The Knights will train at EnergyAustralia Stadium this afternoon at 4.30pm in preparation for their clash with the Roosters on Saturday night.
