Kogarah records highest Round 15
NRL crowd

Kogarah's OKI Jubilee Stadium recorded the highest crowd of round 15 when the St.George Bank Dragons hosted the Wests Tigers. The Dragons restored their premiership credentials by thrashing the Tigers by 50-0 in front of a capacity crowd of 16,915.

After an early scare in the second minute when Moodie almost scored for the Tigers, the Dragons completely dominated proceedings. The highlight of the afternoon was the performance of Mark Gasnier who crossed for four scintillating tries.

Gasnier scored two of those in the first-half and with tries to Cooper and Sims, the Dragons went to half-time with a 22-0 lead. Following half-time, Gasnier and his fellow Dragons continued the annihilation and posted the half-century on the stroke of full-time.

While Gasnier was a clear man-of-the-match, the Dragons had a host of top performers including Dean Young, Mathew Head and Lance Thompson.

The afternoon was another triumph for rugby league in the St.George district. With capacity currently restricted to 17,000 at Kogarah, officials turned away approximately 4,000 supporters after the gates were shut.

Kogarah's popularity with supporters justifies further enhancements to the ground. St.George-Illawarra should be looking to add additional seating on the Jubilee Avenue side of the ground next to the new toilet block and on the English Street side of the ground to extend the seating that was installed in 2003.
