The former Bradford Bulls and Great Britain forward cut his coaching teeth under Tony Smith, initially at Huddersfield Giants and for three years at Leeds, until leaving last summer to succeed Tony Rea at the Stoop.
"In terms of the game itself, it means nothing to me," he said.
"I had three very enjoyable years at Leeds and the people at Leeds made me feel very welcome but this game has nothing to do with any of that.
