Lockyer knee surgery delays return

Brisbane Broncos captain and five eighth Darren Lockyer's return to training has been delayed due to surgery on his knee last month.

He is expected to return to training on Australia Day.

Lockyer has been put on restricted duties following arthroscopic surgery on the same knee he struggled with during the first half of last year.

Meanwhile, rumours regarding the future of Karmichael Hunt intensified this week with the Broncos fullback being targeted by French rugby union.

The 22-year-old is off contract at season's end and has been linked to NRL clubs the Roosters and the Dragons. The Australian Rugby Union and Queensland Rugby Union have also shown interest.

French rugby union, however, should be able to put the biggest offer on the table with Hunt standing earn up to $800,000 per season if he makes the switch.
