Penrith punish rusty Roosters

The Parramatta Eels have rightly refused Jamie Lyon a release from his contract and have given the wayward centre a week to consider his options.
The Eels stance means Lyon is unable to turn out for the Wee Waa Panthers and the Eels stance also means no other NRL clubs can poach him or attempt to lure him out of his premature retirement.
Lyon and his manager Allan Gainey met with Eels officials this afternoon including Brian Smith and Denis Fitzgerald. The Eels are hopeful Lyon will return to the club and play out the remainder of his contract, which expires at the conclusion of the 2006 season.
