Missing out on the 23-strong Australian Tri-Nations squad has not worried ex-Parramatta centre Jamie Lyon.
The St Helens matchwinner says he will "hang around" after his ESL commitments in case history repeats and he is given a last minute call-up for Australia.
Kangaroos coach Chris Anderson caused a stir in 2003 when he called up 34-year-old utility Darren Smith - in England playing for St Helens - into the third Test team after a spate of injuries.
And Lyon, 23, is hoping to answer a similar SOS when the Australians arrive for the UK leg of the series in November.
"For sure, I will be staying around for a while," Lyon told the League Correspondent.
"I was not expecting a call at all. They have got a lot of good players to choose from and they are definitely in form.
"I have got no problems with it at all."
Lyon's more immediate concern is St Helens' Super League elimination final against a Bradford side boasting Sydney Roosters hardman Adrian Morley on Sunday.
Lyon caused a stir when he left NRL side Parramatta early last season, claiming that he was sick of professional football.
Parramatta would not release Lyon from his contract which expires at the end of 2006 so he returned to his NSW Country hometown of Wee Waa.
After almost singlehandedly winning a premiership for the Wee Waa Panthers, Lyon snatched up a two year deal with St Helens.
