Manly tear Wests Tigers apart at Brookvale

The Manly Sea Eagles have produced a 34-4 thumping of the Wests Tigers in front of 15,288 people at Brookvale Oval.

All the signs are good for Manly who have now scored 90 points and conceded only 4 with two dominant back-to-back victories in as many weeks.

The game was played at a quick pace with the Sea Eagles having a glut of early possession and posting the first try through Glenn Stewart in the 7th minute. Working from dummy half, Michael Monaghan delivered the ball at close range to the much-improved second rower who crashed over.

The next 25 minutes or so saw some very attacking football with both sides taking chances but to no avail. Steve Bell left the field with an ankle injury resulting in Steve Menzies coming on and playing in the centres.

The Tigers scored their only points in the 32nd minute with replacement hooker Stuart Flanagan breaking the defence open and running 50m to score in a great individual display.

With only two minutes remaining Monaghan responded with his own show of skill, darting out of dummy half and evading the attention of five other players to score just to the left of the posts. With Orford
