Marshall to miss trial; Roosters name team

Benji Marshall's return from shoulder surgery has been put on hold with the West Tigers five eighth to miss the club's opening trial match against the Sydney Roosters on Saturday night.

Tiger's coach Tim Sheens had been hoping to have both Marshall and skipper Brett Hodgson available for the inaugural Foundation Cup clash, but both are believed to be two to three weeks away from full fitness. Sheens named back rower Liam Fulton in the number six jumper, Fulton to play his first game in almost eleven months following shoulder surgery.

New Roosters coach Chris Anderson has named a largely inexperienced squad with the likes of skipper Craig Fitzgibbon, Braith Anasta and Anthony Minichiello all rested. Teenage half-back Mitchell Pearce has been named in the run on side with half-back rivals Jamie Soward and Josh Lewis both named on the bench.

Roosters: Shaun Foley, Vince Mellars, Joel Monaghan, Sam Perrett, John Williams, Mitch Aubusson, Mitchell Pearce, Charles Tonga, George Ndaira, Mickey Paea, Lopini Paea, Nigel Plum, Adam Schubert. Interchange: Frank Paul-Nuuasala, Josh Lewis, Nate Myles, Chris Beattie, Heath L'Estrange, Shaun Kenny-Dowall, Jamie Soward.
