Matthew Elliot joins Roosters coaching staff in 2012

MATTHEW ELLIOTT TO JOIN SYDNEY ROOSTERS COACHING STAFF IN 2012

The Sydney Roosters today announced that Matthew Elliott has been appointed to the role of NRL Assistant Coach from next season for two years.

A former Bondi United and Sydney Roosters lower grade player, Elliott will assume the role at the conclusion of the 2011 Telstra Premiership season, when he will be reunited with Head Coach Brian Smith.

Smith and Elliott's association first began in the early 1990s when Smith coached Elliott at the St George Dragons.  When injury cut Elliott's career short, he commenced his coaching career with Smith in an assisting role at the Dragons.

Elliott went on to assist Brian Smith in the English Super League at the Bradford Bulls before returning to the NRL in 2001, and has coached at the Canberra Raiders and Penrith Panthers over the last decade.
