McRae ruled out of running for GB coach

Former South Sydney coach Shaun McRae has been ruled out of the running for the Great Britain coaching job. Rugby Football League executive chairman Richard Lewis has telephoned McRae at his home in Australia to inform him he has been unsuccessful. The successor to outgoing coach Brian Noble is expected to be announced within 48 hours, with Australian Tony Smith, the current Leeds coach, the new favourite with McRae now out of the frame.
