Mimis escapes deregistration

Leading player agent George Mimis has escaped having his accreditation revoked over his involvement in the NRL salary cap scandal which engulfed the New Zealand Warriors earlier this year.

The Rugby League Agent Accreditation Committee, which is currently a voluntary organisation but will become mandatory on November 1, had the power to deregister Mimis over the incident. The committee had previously found Mimis guilty of executing a contract that did not include all of the Warriors' payments from the club.

But Mimis will escape deregistration if there are no further complaints about him in the next 12 months. Another agent, Jim Banaghan, is under investigation, with the Committee to make a call on his accreditation next month.
