Morris a Bulldog until 2018

The Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs are pleased to announce the re-signing of Australian, New South Wales and current Bulldogs player, Josh Morris, for the next four years, through until the end of season 2018.

The Kiama Knights junior made his NRL debut for the Dragons back in season 2007 before joining the Bulldogs in 2009. At 27, Morris has made 156 appearances in the NRL (Dragons 46, Bulldogs 110). At representative level, Morris has made five appearances for Australia, played eight matches for New South Wales, represented Country Origin on three occasions and been selected in the NRL All-Stars side twice.

Morris is excited about the contract extension and is also pleased it has been sorted out early in the season.

“I’m very happy that the deal has been done,” Morris said. “It’s a great club and I’m grateful that I can be a part of it for the next four and a half years.”

“It was a tough decision, there were a number of things to weigh up but I’ve enjoyed my time here so far, so that was a big factor.

“The playing group we have here is strong and the coaching staff are great. That also made the decision that little bit easier.”

Chief Executive Raelene Castle is pleased that a player of Morris’ quality is staying at the Bulldogs.

“Josh is a Kangaroo and Origin player and that experience is extremely valuable,” Castle said. “To have a player of his calibre in our backline for the next four years is a great result.”

Coach Des Hasler is glad that Morris has chosen to remain at the club.

“Josh is a quality player at both club and representative level,” Hasler said. “He is now a leader amongst the playing group and someone who will continue to carry the legacy of the club moving forward.
