NRL Regulations Exclude Oki Jubilee
in 2005

The St George Illawarra Dragons having been required by the NRL to respond to a detailed list of requirements for hosting a home semi-final have today nominated WIN Stadium, Wollongong.

Each year around this time of the competition all teams in the running for the finals series are requested to formally advise the NRL of their nominated venue to host a home semi-final should the opportunity arise.

The Dragons play their home season games in their two key communities at the venues of Oki Jubilee Stadium and WIN Stadium and the NRL advised the Club that Oki Jubilee Stadium did not comply with certain criteria; namely spectator capacity, broadcast quality lighting, corporate facilities and change room facilities for numerous teams (including lower grades) .

The management of Telstra Stadium did approach the Club to assist if the opportunity arose to host a semi-final at Homebush.

?On balance WIN Stadium offers a little more than Oki Jubilee Stadium and a true ?home feel? compared to Telstra,? said Dragons Chief Executive Officer Peter Doust. ?However, in saying this, we are definitely not looking to get ahead of ourselves, we are just complying with the NRL regulations?.
