NRL Round 15 - Post Round Rake-up

The latest big news out of the Superleague this week is that English club Warrington will make an offer upwards of $1.6 million over four years to Lyon to return to the Northern Hemisphere for a second bout in 2009. In addition the club would reportedly be prepared to pay Manly $1 million to gain his release. Also Jason Ryles has signed with French side Catalans after being shown the door at St George.

Other done deals were Colin Best signing with the Bunnies, who also re-sign Shannon McPherson and Ben Lowe. Terry Campese re-signs with Raiders for 2 years, saying he wants to be a 1 club man. Jeremy Smith is heading north to join St George in 2009.

In Origin news NSW Five-Eight Greg Bird has had scans revealing a ruptured posterior capsule in his left knee. He will be out for 2-3 weeks, which means Origin III is out for him. Peter Wallace still had to find a specialist to clear him to play for NSW although he was cleared to play by his club. Another big problem for NSW could be Mark Gasnier. St George advised the NSW Rugby League that Gasnier would be unavailable for selection in Origin III after he underwent back scans today. It remains up to Dr Hugh Hazard and the NSW selectors to decide though.

Yesterdays bruising encounter between the Sharks and Eels was lucky not to have sidelined several others, but Luke Burt should be alright for the Melbourne match on Sunday after suffering knocks to the shoulder and testicles. Joel Reddy though needs to have a possible broken thumb x-rayed. Todd Carney and Brett Kimmorley should both be on deck for next Monday
