NRL set to fine Bulldogs players

The Bulldogs crisis is far from over despite Police announcing yesterday that no charges would be laid against players alleged to have raped a 20-year-old woman in Coffs Harbour.

The National Rugby League are today expected to impose a range of fines on Bulldogs players for bringing the game into disrepute. Fines will not relate to the alleged incident, but to the behaviour of players in the weeks following the Coffs Harbour trip.

The NRL are investigating the way players dressed for Police interviews, behaviour in front of the media and a range of other breaches of the game?s code of conduct that may have occurred.

The Bulldogs themselves may also impose fines on individual players.

Yesterday, Police said there simply wasn?t enough evidence to charge Bulldogs players over the alleged rape, clearing all involved.

?The advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions has assisted us in making the decision that no charges will be laid against any player or official from the Bulldogs Rugby League Club,? Detective Chief Inspector Jason Breton said. ?Our decision in this case not to lay charges should not discourage anyone from reporting an allegation of sexual assault.?

Police investigating the woman?s claims have called a media conference for 10am this morning to further discuss issues stemming from their investigation.
